Gain Insight into Ovarian Cancer: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

A cancer that occurs I the ovaries due to abnormal multiplication and division of ovarian cells is known as ovarian cancer. It is a commonly occurring cancer seen in women. When the DNA of the ovarian cells undergo abnormal mutations, Cancer develops. Epithelial ovarian carcinoma, Germ cell ovarian tumors, Sex Cord-Stromal Tumors and Borderline Epithelial Tumors are the four major types of cancers seen in the ovaries.

What are the various symptoms of ovarian cancer? The following symptoms are seen in ovarian cancer,

  • Frequent bloating

  • Pain and discomfort in the abdomen

  • Pain in the pelvis

  • Loss of appetite

  • Unusual increase in size of the abdomen

  • Loss of weight

  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding and discharge

  • Pain in the lower back

  • Pain during sex

  • Frequent urger to pee

  • Diarrhea

  • Constipation

  • Excessive fatigue

What are the causes of ovarian cancer? Although the exact causes are not known, the following risk factors increases a person’s risk of developing ovarian cancer,

  • Old age

  • Late pregnancy

  • Family history

  • No pregnancy all life

  • Family history of breast or colorectal cancer

  • Taking hormone replacement therapy after menopause

  • Having endometriosis

  • Being obese

How is ovarian cancer treated? ovarian cancer can be treated using the following treatment methods,

  • Surgery

  • Radiation therapy

  • Chemotherapy

  • Targeted drug therapy

  • Immunotherapy

Carboplatin 150mg Injection is used in the treatment of ovarian cancer. This injection contains the active ingredient Carboplatin. This injection works by modifying the structure of DNA and inhibiting the DNA synthesis, which in turn arrests the development of the tumor cells. Effective birth control is to be used during the treatment with this injection and is to be continued for up to 6 months after taking the last dose. Anemia, abdominal cramps, hair loss, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, mouth ulcers, bone pain, muscle pain, are common side effects of Carboplatin 150mg Injection.
